My Top 10 Style Staples

I’ve bought into SO many fashion trends during my time - these included everything from leopard print to slogan tee’s and yes, even those dreaded flared jeans (you know you did too!). I’ve learnt that trends eventually go out of style; sooner or later I lose interest and next thing you know, it's tucked away in a bag ready to give to charity, along with the other rejected impulse buy's.

Nonetheless, there are a few pieces that have withstood the test of time - I dub these my style staples. These are the key fashion essentials that every woman should have in their wardrobe - in my opinion. They are timeless, versatile and easily interchangeable items that you could rock all year round (just about) for years and years to come - so they're definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!

  1. The Mac or Trench Coat

    - This chic day-to-night piece is perfect to throw on over a casual outfit or a formal dress. They range in price but as long as you find one that's durable enough to withstand the rain & wind, then you're good to go!

  2.  The Black Leather Jacket

    - This is the easiest way to edge up any outfit. If you can, I suggest investing in real leather - it will last you far longer than faux (obviously) and let’s face it, it just looks so much better.
    (£100 at River Island)

  3. The Black Legging/Black Skinnies

     - Probably my most worn out of the bunch. If you prefer the comfort of leggings like me, it’s important to invest in a good quality pair. I can’t stress this enough. My favourite ones are from Topshop as they’re cheap, opaque & lightweight.
    (£12 at Topshop)

  4. The Ankle Boot

    -  Another day-to-night essential. These can be paired easily with skinnies, dresses, shorts.. the possibilities are endless.
    (£14 at New Look)

  5. The Neutral Blazer

     - Love this one as it smartens up a casual outfit in seconds. It makes it look like you’ve tried without really trying. Buy one that is half or fully lined. It will last longer and you won't shiver to death when you're out & about.
    (£29.99 at H&M)

  6. The Denim Short

    -  Show off your pins during the summer or use in conjunction with tights during the cooler months. Invest in timeless Levi’s or simply cut & fray your old unwanted denim jeans.
    (£55 at Selfridges)

  7.  The LBD

    - Make the most out of this ultimate style staple by finding one that suits your body shape. Rough guide: Hourglass = Bodycon, Apple & Pear = Skater, Athletic/Boyish = Frills or Peplum.
    (£40.79 at NastyGal)

  8. The White Tee

     -  Whether you dress it up or down, no matter what, everyone looks good in a clean, fresh white tee. They come in all sorts of styles and variations but the most universally flattering has got to be the v-neck short sleeve tee.
    (£12.00 at Topshop)

  9. The Ballet Flat

    -  Comfort & Cuteness all rolled into one. Again, I will stress the importance of quality here. Invest in ones that won't fall apart within a month of using them.. yes that means no Primarni flats.
    (£34.99 at Mango)
  10. The Black Heel

     - Like the neutral blazer, this will dress up any casual outfit. I suggest choosing a heel with some sort of strap and a platform - just so you don’t have to worry about them slipping off or hurting the balls of your feet too much
    (£39.99 at Zara)
